No Drones Wisconsin needs your help

No Drones Wisconsin:  A WNPJ member organization,  needs your help.

 

We have made great strides this past year in our educational outreach in the Madison area and around the state, in our quest to stop the use of killer drones.

  Our work nearly every Saturday at the Madison Farmers Market has been tremendous, where we have spoken to thousands about the use of UAVs/drones by the CIA and military, and ramped up our message on the use of surveillance drones by DHS, FBI, and local police departments.

One of the highlights was our invitation to speak at Edgewood High School in September to a group of 150 junior and senior high school students. That was a very good event and our message was well received by the students. In addition, we have shared our message at Many Ways of Peace in Eagle River, and Fellowship of Reconciliation in Janesville, plus a number of other speaking engagements, and appearances.

In order to continue our work, to keep up with developments, and help create a strong resistance to the use of drones and robotic weapons, in our quest to abolish war and  seek peace,  we would like to attend the next drone summit in Washington DC on November 16, 17. In order to get there and attend, we need funding for transportation, lodging, and meals.  If any donations exist after the trip, they will be used for literature and other expenses

In Wisconsin: A Loud NO! to Drones

No Drones Wisconsin, with the help of our replica reaper drone from Nick Mottern at Know Drones, is holding, at minimum, a weekly educational outreach and protest somewhere within the state of Wisconsin every Saturday. On Saturday August 4, we were in Madison at the farmers market, one of the largest in the country; around 20,000 people attend the market every Saturday.

Next week we will be at the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee -- join us!

We have attended two other events since obtaining the drone, Farmers Market and Maxwell Street Days in Madison, and the giant Air Venture 2012 EAA Fly-in at Oshkosh.

We are handing out two "Occucards": #11 about drone attacks, and #4 on the military industrial complex.

In addition, Joy First and Bonnie Block, plus others, have been holding monthly vigils at Volk Field where they fly the Shadow 200. The most recent Volk Field vigil was on July 24, and we hope to expand that monthly vigil with a lot more attendees.

Going forward, we are starting to ratchet up support for a drone ban in Madison, Dane County, and the State of Wisconsin. Drone use for tracking and surveillance was recently upheld in court, and this is likely to open the floodgates for the further use of drones, curtailing more of our liberties.

No Drones Wisconsin Needs YOUR Financial Support!

No Drones Wisconsin recently acquired a drone replica from Know Drones in New York State. The replica is 8' long, has an 11' wingspan, and is displayed on a heavy-duty lifter that makes it widely visible. We've already put the model to use during our outreach in Madison this past Saturday (see image below) and when we took the "No Drones!" message to the biggest airshow in the country -- EAA Airventure 2012 in Oshkosh.

We need your support to help us defray the cost of buying and transporting this important part of our public education effort. We need to cover costs of $500 we incurred in procuring the model and transporting it to Madison. (In fact, that only covers about half of the actual costs; Know Drones itself helps cover a portion of the cost through its own funding sources.)
